Kitchen towels
On the right you will find Kitchen towels with a rooster design. A rooster crowed and I was shocked! It was a sunny breeze filled morning in Key West, Florida and the rooster was right at my feet ... polite and peaceful, but clearly on his own turf. For the moment I had forgotten that he and all chickens had “rights” on this Island. From that time on I kept my camera close and looked for roosters, hens and chicks. I found them in expected places near houses and where tourists were feeding them. Soon I discovered them everywhere–in gift shops, printed on fabric and painted on furniture. Such fun.
Why are we charmed by these and other birds ... who knows .... As soon as they appear on a decorative item
– a purse – a piece of clothing – or a photo on a card, someone claims them and gives a reason to create more!
