This Marriage banner is a celebration of love and unity, a love that binds us to God and each another. The traditional symbol of a cross with interlocking rings (two unique individuals in a shared relationship) rests on a blue backdrop that represents heaven and is based on the often-used passage read at weddings from 1 Corinthians 13, the famous “love” chapter.
It also recalls St. Paul’s words in Ephesians 5: “ ‘…the two shall become one.’ This is a great mystery, and I take it to mean Christ and the church.” Christ’s sacrificial love is the model for all married couples that seek to emulate our Lord’s compassionate care.
