This companion Easter banner is a call to action, on God’s part and on ours. St. Paul says when the last trumpet sounds, God will call forth all those who have died in Christ. When that call - ‘Everybody Up!’ - goes out, those in Christ will rise first and enter into the joy of their Savior. The words “Rise” and “Arise” represent our Lord’s voice. A butterfly also appears, signaling our transformation into a new life form. But after death, we will only need to sing His praise! The butterfly on this banner is different from the previous one, just as real butterflies come in a wide variety of colors - like all - white, yellow, lime green, brown, and orange and black – yet are beautiful in their own right. Instead of appearing this time as a multi-colored image of joy, the colors on this butterfly are black (a reminder of Sin, death and the devil, the powers broken by Christ’s rising( and deep crimson (suggesting our Lord’s blood shed for us on Calvary and shared with us again through His real presence in the Sacrament of Holy Communion).
