Seasonal applique overlays are created to give meaning and variety to basic banners.
In the photo at the right an overlay of butterflies has been hung on the white banner during the Easter season. The butterfly is an ancient symbol of the Resurrection of Christ and the eternal hope of resurrection of all people.
This overlay is also used in the middle of the Pentecost season (the season of the life of the church in the world) when it is placed on the green banners used during this long season.
