This banner was commissioned by a “Women of the ELCA” organization in a Florida congregation for display in their church and for use at regional WELCA gatherings. It features the official logo of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (a multi-colored globe bisected by a cross), the acronym for “Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America,” and the word “Witnessing” – a testimony to this group’s intention to reach out to others. The congregation’s name appears at the bottom of the banner.
The white fabric of the banner is woven from similar threads described in detail for other white paraments and banners depicted elsewhere. The lettering is appliquéd in Marian blue, and the colored segments in the logo are from solid cloth stitched in place.
