Far away from the cold winter of Pennsylvania I began the 2006 blanket. When I cast on the first stitches I knew that this was "Sedona Springtime." I knit the month I was in Florida but my mind pictured the American Southwest. I had not been there since my 14th Summer but my memory of the colors was vivid. All through school I had cringed at the idea that only certain colors belonged in a project palette. I claimed nature and the culture of an area as my evidence and witness. This May I proved my own theory to be correct - over and over again. As I traveled through Texas, New Mexico, Arizona and Colorado I kept adding the colors that surroun- ded me. In between the bands of color are the continuous shades of desert sand plateau rocks and occasional snow. There is really no substitute for travel - but a beautiful blanket is the perfect shelter for wonderful memories ...
